I’ve been busy sorting out my next steps. I’ve had several meetings/interviews in the first 2 weeks after the election – which now seem to be yielding some interesting work for me.
I have decided to do some consulting for now, until I sort out what really interests me. I’m very fortunate in that my experience of the last 20 years will allow me many opportunities, including continued governance development, treaty implementation, negotiations, intergovernmental relations, economic development, policy development, facilitation, strategic communication, consultation and engagement.
I’ve had to sort out some infrastructure, create a logo:
Ta da!
This artwork was done by talented Coast Salish artist Mark Gauti and is a mirrored image of a heron in flight. This logo has allowed me to make up some business cards etc. I’ve upgraded my website domain which is now kimbaird.ca. I have a new email address to go along with that hello@kimbaird.ca This is all busy work that takes time and effort to get done, but I am getting it done!
I’m off to Ottawa this week to speak on Bill S2 to a parliamentary committee. I will take advantage and meet up with some business associates and friends. It doesn’t seem to take long to fill my dance card, so to speak. It is an exciting although scary time for me. I haven’t had this type of freedom before and I’m trying hard to enjoy it, while worrying about providing stability for my kids – I am a single mom after all. My kids’ dad has them half time and I try my best to load up my work and travel on the weeks I don’t have them.
As always – I am amazed and humbled by the number of people checking up on me and making sure I’m ok. I am very fortunate to have such an awesome support network. I still have much to sort out but bit by bit I am moving forward. Many have expressed they can’t wait to see what’s next. I feel the same way…and although I don’t feel like I’m in full flight – I do feel like I’m taking off.
